1. Introduction of Tungsten Carbide Gear Hobs
Tungsten Carbide Hobs are gear processing tools with teeth arranged along a cylinder or cone in a spiral line. They are used to process cylindrical gears, worm gears and other cylindrical workpieces with teeth according to the development method (see gear processing, gears). According to different uses, hobs are divided into gear hobs, worm gear hobs, non-involute development hobs and fixed hobs.
Carbide Gear hobs are commonly used tools for processing external meshing spur and helical cylindrical gears. During processing, the hob is equivalent to a helical gear with a large helical angle. The number of its teeth is the number of heads of the hob. The workpiece is equivalent to another helical gear. They mesh with each other in space according to a pair of helical gears and rotate at a fixed speed ratio. The tooth profiles of the teeth in each adjacent position cut in sequence are enveloping the gear tooth profile.
The commonly used worm gear processing tool is the Carbide worm gear hob. The type and main parameters (module, tooth angle, pitch circle diameter, helix angle and number of thread starts, etc.) of the basic worm (see worm gear transmission) of the worm gear hob should be the same as those of the working worm, so the worm gear hob is often special.
