Carbide Extrusion Dies
Carbide extrusion dies are industrial processing tools made primarily of tungsten-cobalt (WC-Co) alloy. They feature high hardness (HRA89-93), high wear resistance (20-30 times greater than tool steel), and high-temperature resistance (structural stability up to 800°C). They are widely used in metal wire drawing, cold heading, and precision stamping.
Materials and Characteristics
Base Material: Tungsten-cobalt alloy, with the cobalt content adjusted between 6% and 25% depending on the application. Flexural strength reaches 3000-4000 MPa.
Advantages: High wear resistance, suitable for high-stress friction conditions, such as extrusion molding of copper busbars and aluminum shells.
Production Process: Powder Metallurgy: Tungsten carbide and cobalt powders are mixed and pressed, then vacuum sintered at 1360-1500°C.
Precision Machining: Diamond grinding wheel grinding achieves a surface roughness of Ra 0.02μm.
